Before time began, God had a plan for humanity. His love for us existed even before He created the world, choosing to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ. This profound truth reveals the depth of God's intentional love for each person.
From Genesis, we see Jesus was present at creation. The plural references to God ("let us make man in our image") and the Hebrew word "Elohim" used over 2,500 times in the Old Testament point to the trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working together from the start.
Sin entered through Adam and Eve's disobedience when they ate from the tree of knowledge. Since sin came through a tree, redemption required repair through a tree - the cross. This concept is known in Hebrew as "Tikkun Olam" meaning "repairing the world."
First Adam brought death through a tree
Second Adam (Jesus) brought life through the cross
Jesus undid the spiritual, relational, emotional and physical aspects of our exile from God
Every detail of Jesus' crucifixion connected to undoing the fall of man:
His pierced hands atoned for hands that stole from the tree
His pierced feet fulfilled prophecy about crushing Satan
His crown of thorns related to the curse of thorns and thistles
He is the only one who has truly conquered death through resurrection
Jesus' death wasn't just a historical event - it was personal. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. This demonstrates God's overwhelming love and value for each person, regardless of their past or present circumstances.
The resurrection proves Jesus' power over death and validates His promises. When the Roman soldiers witnessed the supernatural events surrounding His death and resurrection, they declared "Truly this was the Son of God."
Consider these questions this week:
Are you living as though you truly believe God had you in mind before creation?
What areas of your life need "repair" that only Jesus can provide?
How can you respond to God's unconditional love in practical ways?
Challenge: Take time each day this week to reflect on God's intentional love for you personally. Write down specific ways you've seen His love manifest in your life, and share your story with someone who needs to hear about God's transforming power.
Remember: You are the focus of Christ's affection. No matter what you've done or where you've been, His love and plan for you remains unchanged. The invitation to receive His grace and forgiveness is always open.
