Today, we’re looking at the story of Elisha in 2 Kings 4:8–37 — a powerful reminder that God provides even when hope feels lost.
In this passage, Elisha meets a woman who shows him great kindness by opening her home to him whenever he passes through her town. Out of gratitude, Elisha tells her that she and her husband will have a child. At first, she responds in fear, saying, “Don’t say that to me.” She doesn’t want to get her hopes up.
But just as God promised, she gives birth to a son.
Years later, that same child grows ill and dies suddenly. It’s a heartbreaking moment — yet what happens next is extraordinary.
Instead of surrendering to despair, the woman acts in faith. She calls for a servant, saddles a donkey, and rushes to find the prophet Elisha. When she reaches him, he asks, “Is everything all right?” and she replies, “Everything is all right.”
Even in her darkest moment, she chooses to trust that God will move again.
Because she had seen God’s faithfulness before, she believed He could do it again — and that faith became the foundation for a miracle. God used Elisha to bring her son back to life.
This story reminds us that when we have experienced the faithfulness of God, we can trust His provision even in the hardest seasons.
Faith doesn’t deny reality — it declares that God’s power is greater than what we can see.
When life feels heavy or uncertain, God calls us to run toward Him — to run toward resurrection — trusting that He is still the One who restores, heals, and provides.
Where in your life do you need to run toward resurrection?
What fear, anxiety, or situation feels too far gone?
Instead of running away, run to God.
Trust the One who has already proven His faithfulness.
Ask Him for blessed assurance — the holy confidence that He will provide, protect, and bring life to what feels hopeless.
God, thank You for the ways You speak and move in our lives.
Help us to surrender the things that weigh us down — our fears, our anxieties, and our doubts.
Teach us to trust in Your provision and believe that You are faithful.
Remind us that You bring resurrection where we see loss, and hope where we see fear.
We invite You into this season, Lord, and trust You with our whole hearts.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
