Today, we’re reflecting on the story of Joseph — a powerful reminder that even when life feels chaotic or unfair, God is still providing purpose, direction, and hope behind the scenes.
At just seventeen years old, Joseph’s life took a dramatic turn. Because he was his father’s favorite and shared bold dreams of leadership, his brothers grew jealous and bitter. Out of that jealousy, they sold him into slavery.
Even in slavery — and later, when Joseph was falsely accused and imprisoned — God’s favor never left him.
God gave Joseph the ability to interpret dreams, a gift that would one day change everything.
Years later, Joseph stood before Pharaoh and interpreted a dream predicting seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh was so impressed that he placed Joseph second in command over all of Egypt. From that position, Joseph saved countless lives — including the very brothers who betrayed him.
In Genesis 50:20, Joseph says to his brothers:
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done — the saving of many lives.”
Even through hardship and betrayal, Joseph continued to trust the Lord and allowed his situation to be used for God’s glory. His story reminds us that God’s plan is always greater than our pain.
Many of us have faced seasons that didn’t go as planned — moments of disappointment, uncertainty, or waiting. It’s often in those times that God is shaping our character, refining our faith, and preparing us for something greater.
What looks like a setback may actually be a setup for His divine purpose.
Centuries later, the Apostle Paul echoes this same truth in Romans 8:28:
“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Even when life feels unpredictable, God’s hand is steady.
Even when our plans fall apart, His purpose still prevails.
What situation in your life right now might God be shaping into something good — even if you can’t see it yet?
This week, release control to Him.
Trust that what feels like a loss or delay may actually be the foundation for something greater.
Remember: God provides even in the chaos — and His plan is always good.
Lord, thank You for being our provider — in both the hard and joyful seasons.
Thank You that You are always working for our good, even when we don’t understand how.
Help us to release control and trust that Your plan is greater than ours.
As we continue through these 21 days, draw us closer to You and give us strength to rely on Your provision.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
